“We launched our brand new community, titled CIRCLE, last month and invite you to join” The Power of CommunityA strong community comes from within, and has characteristics of support, growth, inclusivity, diversity, appreciation and probably many more. These are all values that I am learning more about whilst being the main facilitator of CIRCLE. There are two types of communities online. Paid and Free. With Free, which we tried and had several thousand people part of our Slack Community, it was a ghost town. People were there, but were lurking. In the end, I decided one day to just kill it as the framework didn't allow us to provide any sort of meaningful connections. There was little governance. “We want to create a space for talking AND doing”The value of the PAID model is there are several people involved with CIRCLE. We are committed to creating an environment for deeper connection through stimulating conversation around Monthly Themes. Based on this conversation, we then create Garage Spaces online that members can join and think of ways to tackle the Theme. As an example, this months theme is Ageism in Design. We now have about 20-people who will gather online inside CIRCLE with a view to creating something to help that theme.
